Ingredients

  • 1 8-oz (250-g) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) peppermint extract
  • 8 cups (2 L) icing sugar
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) milk chocolate or dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) shortening

Preparation

Makes 5 dozen patties.

In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, peppermint extract and icing sugar until it forms a paste. Roll mixture into 1-inch (2.5-cm) balls and press flat to form into patties. Chill for 15 minutes.

Melt chocolate and shortening in a double boiler over medium heat. Remove from heat. Dip patties in mixture and place on waxed paper to harden.
