Sugar Cookies


3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 eggs
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon creme tartare
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
2 teaspoon milk


Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Sift flour and other dry goods and add to egg mixture.

Add milk and chill for one hour. Roll out and cut into shapes or cut round and another round with the centre cut out.

Place cut-out cookies on a cookie sheet. To cook, place two cookie sheets thick, so the bottom won't cook too much.

400º F for eight to 10 minutes.

And place jam in the middle and place the one with the middle removed to create stuffed cookies.
