A Meaningful Christmas

Now that Christmas is just 2 weeks away and, according to a recent survey released today, most Canadians have at least 50 percent of their Christmas shopping left to do. We hope our magazine is helping to inspire Saltscapers to buy local as much as possible.

Jim and I have four grown children and, since the youngest graduated in engineering last May, are all NOW employed in their chosen fields. We are blessed that 3 elderly parents are still with us and are (hint!! :)longing for the day when grandchildren join our family.

For the last several years, we have minimized the gift gifting to just a name exchange for stockings and maximized the time spent with family at the table and the fireside. But we have not stopped spending…we will once again adopt a family through the rural elementary school near our home on the Stewiacke River. We gather the limited ( some would say meager) family Christmas funds and spend a meaningful time buying warm clothing, books, games, craft supplies and lots of food and Christmas treats for a local family.

It is a small drop in the bucket to the needs of our community but the sparkle in the eyes of the children and the warm grateful hug of a young mom truly makes our Christmas meaningful.

Please share with us what makes your Christmas meaningful…our warmest wishes for a peaceful new year to you!
