Saltscapes Road Trip Day 21
Still in sunny Cape Breton thus morning: fingers crossed.
Departed Ben Eoin Campground after a great breakfast on the deck overlooking the mirror flat Bras d'Or Lakes; pretty magical.
And, of course we visited the Cape Breton Farmers Market in Sydney. It so great to purchase products direct from the source (we are fortunate to have dozens of farmers markets across this region from our local tiny one in the Stewiacke Valley to the large and impressive Fredericton location). We found beautifully fresh halibut for a dinner we were hosting later in the evening, fixings, local \"honey\" wine, organic porridge bread, free range eggs, lamb chops, peameal bacon and famous Cape Breton oat cakes. Just a treat.
Then we moved the rig down the street to visit Ramseys on Keltic Drive and the impressive bikers who were celebrating at the finish line of a 10,000-mile motorcycle race that started in Arizona. The participants all unaided stated that the Cabot Trail was their \"favourite ride\".
We huffed and puffed and crawled back up Kelly's Mountain and tried unsuccessfully to visit reader suggested sites in St Anns Bay, like the Clucking Hen Cafe, but the Englishtown ferry was backed up by seval boatloads and we obliged to turn around. So it was on to Baddeck and our friends at the Inverary Inn for a buffet lunch.
The evening saw us dine with friends at the Salmon Pool Inn for dinner, take an amazing sunset party boat ride up the lower end of the Magaree River - and engage in story telling enhanced with Glen Breton scotch.
Sunday is on to Isle Madame, Guysborough and Nova Scotia's Marine Drive.
