IF YOU’RE travelling through rural Antigonish County in Nova Scotia early on a Saturday and you happen to see a half ton truck pulling a charming little wood stove—follow that truck. The driver just might be pizza maker Brendan Hines of The Rolling Bricks wood-fired pizzas, based in Antigonish, and he’s probably on his way to sell his delicious wares at the Antigonish Farmers Market.

The bustling Antigonish Market runs Saturdays in summer and fall at the 4-H barn in Antigonish. Off-season, the market relocates to a warmer location (this year’s winter venue is yet to be determined).

Home to more than 50 vendors, the market offers one-stop shopping for fresh fish and meat, produce, crafts, gifts and specialty foods. Cornect Family Farm will sweeten you up with its honey products, including delicious Honeylicious Chocolate Spread. And if you haven’t filled up on Brendan’s pizza, try Nicole Broussard’s authentic Belgian waffles.

Open Saturdays from May to August, 8am to 1pm; from September to December, 9am to 1pm. ~AB
