Body Break’s Barbecue Turkey Burgers

Ingredients
1 pound (500 g) ground turkey2 tablespoons (30 mL) Italian-style bread crumbs
5 tablespoons (75 mL) barbecue sauce, divided
Olive oil cooking spray
1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced
4 whole-wheat burger buns or Kaiser rolls
Directions
Preheat broiler on high. In a bowl, combine turkey, bread crumbs and 3 tablespoons (45 mL) barbecue sauce; mix well. Form into 4 patties.
Coat broiler pan with cooking spray and wipe off excess with paper towel. Broil burgers for 5 to 6 minutes on one side. Turn and continue broiling until burgers are no longer pink in centre.
Coat large, nonstick skillet with cooking spray and wipe off excess with paper towel. Add onion and stir in remaining 2 tablespoons (30 mL) barbecue sauce. Cook over medium-low heat until onion is tender-crisp.
Top burgers with onion and serve on lightly toasted buns.
Makes 4 servings. Per serving: 282 calories, 36 g protein, 6 g fat, 18 g carbohydrates, 4 g fibre.
