Ingredients

1     teaspoon (5 mL)     canola oil
1     clove garlic, finely diced
1/4 cup (50 mL)     soy sauce
1     tablespoon (15 mL)     apple cider vinegar
2     tablespoons (30 mL) honey   
2     teaspoons (10 mL)     ginger root, minced
4     1-inch (2.5 cm)     thick salmon fillets or steaks
 

Directions

In a small ceramic dish, microwave all ingredients until bubbling. Stir and let cool. Lay salmon steaks or fillets in sauce and let rest for at least 15 minutes. In a hot ribbed skillet over medium-high heat, sear salmon, turning once. Finish cooking in a 400°F (205°C) oven for 6 to 7 minutes. Serve with rice and stir-fried vegetables for a delicious Far East presentation.
