Eric Ouellette wants to build the world's largest dome igloo — again. In 2008, the civil engineer from Grand Falls, NB, designed and built an igloo out of ice blocks that set a Guinness World Record for the largest igloo ever constructed. Last year, his record was broken by a group from Wisconsin, and now he's out to win it back.

"The world record for the largest igloo should belong to Canada," Ouellette says. He and several volunteers have already started the process of freezing water in plastic buckets to produce the 4,200 ice blocks he'll need. He plans to begin construction of the igloo next weekend (February 5), and says it will take a week or two to build, depending on the number of volunteers who come out to help. The igloo will be built in front of the E.& P. Sénéchal Center in Grand Falls. Want to help? Contact e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots.
