Happy vendors, happy customers: Wolfville Farmers Market
It's no secret that I love markets, and I’m envious when a community has a market that runs more than one day a week. Wolfville, NS, is one such lucky town.
Its market operates in a renovated turn-of-the-century apple warehouse on Saturdays from 8:30am-1pm, year-round, and on Wednesday evenings from 4-7pm, from May to December. There’s also a weekly market supper. Attendees purchase $10 in market vouchers that can be cashed in with any vendor; diners are given a plate, free bread and salad, and can then take their vouchers to any of the vendors to build their dinner.
Kelly Marie Redcliffe, market manager, says that between the many farm-grown products and the abundance of wineries, it’s not hard to understand why Wolfville is considered a hub of food and wine in Atlantic Canada. ~AB
